I can recommend the Banax Extreme GT 5000 Heavy Duty Spinning Reel. If you can track one these reels down here they are worth considering as they offer some great value for money for a tough as nails workhorse. I have one since 3 years and use it for spinning, jigging, bait and lure-fishing from either
shore or boat. Never had any troubles and the reel is still as good as new.

This Banax reel has 25kg of drag power to stop the hardest running fish. It has been designed for Australian conditions and has the components to handle our harsh conditions. The six part drag system is made of 3 x carbontex washers and 3 x alloy washers. The reel boasts full power metal construction with alloy rotor which ensures all internal parts are held in position when under the heaviest loads thus reducing wear. Backing this up is the Banax HCS or "Hard Core System", this is the combination of precision machine cut brass gears and pinion and the stainless steel shaft ensuring the reel will hold up under pressure. Brass gears are some of the toughest gears in the market place and if you are chasing big fish cannot be ignored. To maintain the highest quality in the reel 6 NMB precision Japanese shielded stainless steel ball bearings are used which incorporates DD400 stainless steel for maximum hardness and corrosion resistance, there is a titanium coated spool lip and line roller to maximise heat dispersion when braid is singing through the guide on a hard running fish maintaining the integrity of the line. Machine cut alloy handle and power knob round out what is already a very impressive reel.
